The Role

Our client is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Manchester team. You will play a key role in the design and delivery of high-quality building services solutions, contributing to a range of innovative and technically challenging projects across the UK.

Depending on experience level, you will take responsibility for design delivery, client interaction and mentoring junior engineers, while working closely within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake mechanical building services design from concept through to detailed design and construction stages
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, reports and technical drawings
  • Develop HVAC, public health and associated building services systems
  • Attend design team meetings and liaise directly with clients, architects and other consultants
  • Ensure designs comply with current regulations, standards and sustainability targets
  • Contribute to project planning, delivery and technical quality assurance
  • Support and mentor junior team members (Senior level)
  • Assist with site inspections and technical support during construction phases

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and public health systems
  • Familiarity with UK building regulations and industry standards
  • Competence in design software such as AutoCAD and relevant calculation tools
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and reports
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

Desirable Skills

  • Working towards or achieved Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
  • Experience using BIM/Revit
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and low-carbon technologies
  • Project coordination or team leadership experience (Senior level)
