I'm keen to engage with ambitious Geo-environmental Professionals regarding an opening in central Manchester. This is an opportunity for an inquisitive individual to join an established and expanding national geo-environmental business.
This practise provides ground investigation and geo-environmental consultancy services for a broad range of private and public sector clients in the development, health, education, defence and infrastructure sectors.
Purpose of the Role
As a Geo‑environmental Engineer you will support the design, procurement, supervision and management of geotechnical and geo‑environmental ground investigations across development, health, education, defence and infrastructure clients. You will deliver desk studies, scope and set up site investigations, log boreholes, schedule labs, undertake groundwater and ground gas monitoring, and produce accurate factual and interpretative reporting.

You’ll provide high‑quality ground investigation data and technical interpretation that directly influences project design and risk management. By ensuring strong site delivery and clear reporting, you’ll help clients meet safety, regulatory and programme objectives while advancing the team’s technical reputation and supporting business growth.
Core Capabilities
Technical ground investigation — Confidently plan and supervise site investigations, log soils, coordinate laboratory testing and manage data quality to industry standards.
Reporting & interpretation — Produce concise, technically robust desk studies and interpretative reports.
Project & site management — Manage logistics, procurement and on‑site teams efficiently; meet programmes and budgets while adapting to site constraints.
Communication & collaboration — Communicate findings clearly to engineers, clients and contractors; contribute to a collaborative team culture and mentor junior staff.
Required to succeed
Degree in geology, engineering geology or environmental science. Practical ground investigation experience (scoping, logging, monitoring, reporting). Full driving licence. Desirable: CAT/Genny, SSSTS/SMSTS, Water Hygiene, First Aid, CSCS card. Tailored training and development provided.
Working environment
Manchester‑based with UK site work (50% site time).
Hybrid working available — typically 2 days in the office per week, flexible pattern to suit project needs. Occasional overnight stays and travel required.
